The Philippines became the most country with the most energy saved during last Saturday’s Earth Hour 2009 saving 611 MWh  according to WWF.org.ph. Over 15 million Filipinos in 650 major cities and towns switched off lights for 60 minutes from 8:30PM to 9:30 PM, followed by Greece with 484 and Australia with 309.

“Based on last year’s 80MWh total savings, Earth Hour 2009 is at least ten times more massive and effective – and is now the largest environmental action in Philippine history.” — wwf.org.ph
