China banned Plurk?
April 28th, 2009
I don’t get it. Why would the Chinese government ban a nice micro-messaging site like Plurk?. All people do there is chat, share thoughts and connect with friends. Everyone has the choice to limit contact with other users anyway. Would Twitter be next?
From a TechCrunch article, Plurk’s lead developer Amir Salihefendic was mentioned saying - “We at Plurk still don’t know why we are banned and we did not get any warnings from the Chinese government or have been in contact with them.”
The article also mentioned, based on online tests, that the top five countries where Plurk’s traffic comes from are Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, the U.S., and China, in that order.

some sort of blog suppression? well, in my case, plurk.com is now banned in our workplace. arrghh! >_<
