I can’t help but *almost* jump when I saw the news that Jenson Button won the 2009 F1. I’m not total gear head / petrol head but I have been rooting for this guy ever since I saw him as guest in Top Gear (sorry forgot the season) and Jeremy Clarkson teased him for not wining anything yet. He was so cool just playing it through with his friend Clarkson that it left an impression on me. Jenson was already in Honda (I think that’s 2007/2008) then and Jeremy bluntly blamed the machine, pointing out the short unnecessary windshield. I guess he was right.

Some may say he just got lucky getting a good new machine and Michael Schumacher not being able to join to replace Felipe Massa, but he’s been around for a decade, a seasoned skilled driver deserving of the credit. Honda pulled out end of 2008 for financial reasons and 3 weeks before the race started Brawn GP took over keeping the Honda team and Jenson faithfully stayed. This was Fate.
