Daily Nihongo: Making Introductions
August 1st, 2010
Sometimes all it takes is a little “HELLO”!~ Here’s a short lesson on how to greet and make introductions in Japanese:
Hajimemashite.
Watashi wa Hyde desu.
Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
はじめまして。
わたしは Hyde です。
どうぞ よろしく おねがいします。
How do you do? (literally: I am meeting you for the first time. )
I am Hyde.
Nice to meet you. (literally: Please be good to me.)
はじめまして is usually used as first phrase when introducing oneself.
どうぞ よろしく is usually used at the end of a self-introduction.
There. Smashing guitar on plexi glass not required! =)
