Life in a Day is a documentary film project by YouTube, announced on July 6, 2010. Users send in videos of themselves on July 24, and then Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald will edit the videos into a film, consisting of footage from some of the contributors. The completed film will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011. The project continues the tradition of humanity attempting to capture the essence of life on Earth as exhibited in projects like the ‘A Day in the Life’ series, and Satellite Films’ 2004 world documentary, A Moment on Earth. I saw the news about this project on CNN the other day and just thought it was brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I’d love to see what great directors Kevin Macdonald and Ridlet Scott will create out of this! This would be historical. Even epic.
It makes you think though. How is it in your day? When others wake up in the break of dawn to start working on their small pieces of earth to plant and grow things, other are just coming home from a mad party, drunk with stupid happy smiles on their faces. These maybe extreme comparisons but it is how a day can go by.
Me? My day’s usually uneventful. Work in front of the computer. That’s all it is lately. Sending a video of my day would be a waste of time for anyone to watch.
How’s yours? I hope it’s worth recording.
